Job Title: Auxiliary Truck Driver
Location: District Wide
Salary: Consistent with the existing Collective Bargaining Agreement Salary Schedule.
Reports to: Chief of Operations
Hours: Eight (8) hours per day, Forty (40) hours per week. Monday – Friday
Closing Date: Until Filled
PRIMARY PURPOSE: To assist the district by transporting and hauling materials.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under general supervision, with latitude for independent planning or laying out of working details, to operate a truck for hauling and transporting material or merchandise over all types of roads. Must be able to operate all district vehicles and fill in on all trucks when necessary.
Will be utilized as a substitute in schools in an emergency or when there are no available travel custodians to cover schools.
Must Operate lifts and other mechanical attachments.
The vehicle must be maintained in clean and serviceable condition.
Must maintain a truck log according to the Scranton School District Regulations.
Must maintain telephone contact with supervisors.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must have good eyesight and hearing and a doctor’s certificate stating physical condition.
Sufficient experience in the use and operation of trucks and their attachments.
Demonstrate ability, skill, and aptitude in the truck driver’s work performance.
Experience in 4-speed transmission and 4-wheel drive.
Must have a working knowledge of more than one make or type of truck.
Must be able to make emergency adjustments and running repairs, such as changing tires and installing light bulbs, fuses, tire chains, and spark plugs.
Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with airbrake endorsement.
A list of all traffic violations, loss of points, and prior years of service in truck driving is to be made available.
Observe all safety regulations.
Check the truck before each operation for mechanical defects, tires, lights, breaks, gas, oil, and water.
Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
Exercises responsible leadership while on duty with a District vehicle.
Must report all accidents and complete all required reports.

Ability to lift and carry things, supplies, and paper weighing more than 50 lbs.
Ability to sit, stand, walk and move throughout a building often for extended periods of the work day.
