Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform daily safety inspection of truck, time cards, PUC mileage reports (monthly) and any other report required by a regulatory agency with proper jurisdiction.
- Drive truck to deliver product in a safe, efficient, timely manner.
- Use radio as needed in a professional, polite manner.
- Must wear seat belt at all times, hearing protection, safety vest and hardhat when required.
- Must keep CDL and Medical Card up-to-date.
- Demonstrate willingness to follow the directions of the truck manager and/or truck supervisor, in addition to taking direction from dispatch.
- Must be willing to follow all safety policies established by Hooker Creek Companies as well as those required by regulatory agency with proper jurisdiction.
- Identify and report to the truck manager malfunctions or service maintenance related problems that may affect the safe, efficient operation.
- Responsible for tools, tire chains, tow chains, company radios and all other items provided by Hooker Creek which may be necessary for safe, competent operation of company.
- Responsible for fueling and adding other fluids as needed.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations relating to legal length, width, and/or weight of motor vehicles assigned.
- Responsible for insuring proper maintenance, cleanliness and performance of any company vehicle assigned.
- Demonstrate ability and willingness to work extended hours (includes evenings and weekends) as directed, to insure completion of contract requirements in a timely manner.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
- Knowledge of DOT reporting requirements.
- Knowledge of highway rules and regulations.
- Skills to use truck controls properly.
- Ability to think and move quickly and react properly when unexpected happens and continually review in mind what reaction will be taken in numerous emergency scenarios.
- Ability to lift 80 pounds.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with customers, employees, and all other contacts.
- Knowledge of Hooker Creek's expectations for quality, professional, service oriented mannerism.
- Ability to display professional appearance and demeanor (public relations).
