ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

 

The Truck Driver operates a tractor trailer or box truck , and LLGI buses on assigned routes or special runs. The position receives, loads and transports goods. The Truck Driver also works in collaboration with Lead Truck Drivers to achieve transportation and logistics objectives.

 

 

  • Operate tractor trailers and/or straight trucks and 15 passenger buses on assigned routes.
  • Conduct and complete a pre-trip checklist.
  • Maintain daily trip log including road and vehicle conditions and information.
  • Transport trailers to and from designated locations.
  • Drive forklift duties and perform related duties.
  • Maintain proper truck load distributions, unload and move goods.
  • Load and unload trailers.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation policies, procedures and programs. Remain current on all government regulations, inspections and reporting.
  • Drive special routes and performs related duties during special organizational events.
  • Perform general warehouse duties.
  • Contribute to team success by involving others in work processes, decisions and actions.
  • Participate in required training.
  • Communicate the organization’s mission, vision, values and promote diversity.
  • Work independently and effectively manage time to ensure that work is completed.
  • Travel to locations within as well as outside the LLGI territory.

REQUIREMENTS

 

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year experience driving and operating a tractor trailer and straight trucks.
  • Must be 21 years old and possess a valid CDL (Class A Preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license, safe driving record and proof of insurance.
  • Certification as a forklift operator or ability to obtain certification within 6 months.
  • Complies with all Federal Motor Carrier regulations as well as federal, state and local driving / transportation regulations.
  • Ability to perform sorting and packing tasks to secure donations.
  • Ability to work a variety of schedules.
  • Communicates problems with the appropriate person.
  • Ability to recognize potential issues before they arise, and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Documentation of the successful completion of the USDOT Medical Examination.
  • Ability to convey information clearly through verbal communication.
  • Ability to interact with people in a manner which enhances their dignity, privacy and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently while fostering a strong team atmosphere
  • Ability to follow LLGI policies and procedures
  • Maintaining confidentiality of information related to LLGI operations, financial matters and personnel matters.
  • Demonstrating professionalism.
