Position: Truck Driver, Heavy (No CDL)

Reports To: Program Manager

Department: DEA Mailroom

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Supervises: None

General Function

This position is assigned to the Lincoln Place and Springfield Warehouse locations. Operates a light to heavy truck to move items, furniture, office items, etc. to various government and commercial buildings as required.

Major Activities (Typical Duties/Responsibilities)

1. Assists in the loading and unloading of supplies or equipment


2. Shall obtain receipts for articles delivered and keep a log of items received or delivered


3. Operate a government vehicle


4. Responsible for performing, routine vehicle washing (including interior), daily operator checks and servicing, and reporting vehicle malfunctions to Lead Supervisor and an on-site government employee immediately


5. Other moving services including but not limited to material handler's duties that are within the scope of work may be assigned as required by the COR through the contractor lead supervisor


6. Driver must always carry proof of insurance card while operating a government vehicle


7. Other duties as assigned

Skills/Abilities

• Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently


• Must be physically able to perform the assigned work which includes lifting boxes weighing up to seventy-five (75) pounds independently but will be required to move heavier with assistance


• Drug Screen and Background Check: Pass with the ability to maintain throughout employment


• Have significant knowledge of the public roadways, access points, traffic patterns, use restrictions and general destinations


• Proven safe driving record as established by the National Driver Register, or equivalent current record check


• Will require a Secret Level Security Clearance

Minimum Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent


• 2+ years of performing driving duties in a safe and responsible manner


• 6+ months of performing driving duties in a safe and responsible manner in the Washington Metropolitan area
