Emergency Response Driver - Part Time

SCHEDULE: Part time/Seasonal

 

POSITION OVERVIEW: This is a part-time position assisting with fueling operations in the field on an as-needed basis. When Sun Coast is called upon for emergency response services, additional resources are often needed to successfully meet our customer demands. In the event of deployment, you will need to be prepared for adverse conditions due to weather related events. These events may include, but are not limited to, a lack of adequate sleeping facilities, which means sleeping in the truck until accommodations are secured, consuming MRE (Meals, Ready-to-Eat) due to a lack in food source, and a lack of showering facilities. In addition, once adequate accommodations are secured, sleeping facilities may include a cot in a shared facility, sharing a travel trailer with multiple employees or a double occupancy hotel room.

        

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Follow delivery instructions, and maintain compliance with all DOT, company and customer safety and operational policies and procedures

  • May operate a Transport, Bobtail or Quick Response Vehicle (depending on qualified status)

  • Properly load and unload product at various locations, connect and disconnect hoses, operate pumps and valves for loading and unloading, safely fill tanks and/or generators 

  • Ensure truck is loaded with correct product and gallons according to delivery instructions

  • Provide friendly, courteous, and professional service to customers including obtaining and providing information regarding delivery

  • Complete paperwork accurately and timely

  • Comply with Sun Coast's accident and incident reporting procedures for accidents and spills


BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be local (live within 60 miles)

  • Valid commercial class A or B license with hazmat and tanker endorsements, a good driving record and a good understanding of DOT regulations 

  • Minimum age 23 for class A or B

  • Must have 1 year fuel hauling experience in a tractor trailer or bobtail

  • No DUI's or DWI's within the past 10 years

  • Must be able to pass background screening including MVR and criminal

  • Good driving record, no more than 2 moving traffic violations in the past 3 years

  • No license suspensions for the past 3 years

  • Must be able to pass DOT physical and DOT drug screening

  • May be required to lift objects weighing up to 70 pounds

  • Must be able to meet all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulatory guidelines 

  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and for 12 to 18+ hours per day

  • Must be able to use three points of access getting in and out of the tractor, multiple times a day 

  • Must be able to climb up steps to verify tank compartments as needed

  • Must be able to work safely in uneven or muddy surfaces 

  • Out of town travel and/or overnight will be required
