Our company seeks a trustworthy CDL Class A driver to transport scrap metals from our distribution center throughout the Northeastern regions. As one of our drivers, you will have the opportunity to visit diverse locations across the region, getting a taste of the local flavor everywhere you go. Aside from daily reports to our distribution manager, you will enjoy freedom and independence on the road. If you demonstrate continued success, you will also get the chance to undergo additional paid training that opens the door to more diverse work opportunities.

Job Summary: The CDL A Driver position at Weitsman Recycling requires the candidate to transport materials to and from designated locations safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate must have a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), a strong commitment to safety, and a demonstrated ability to operate heavy-duty commercial vehicles.

Responsibilities:

  1. Safe Operation of Commercial Vehicles:
    • Operate company-owned commercial vehicles, including but not roll-off trucks and other specialized equipment.
    • Adhere to all local, state, and federal transportation regulations and safety standards.
    • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the proper functioning of the vehicle.
  2. Material Transportation:
    • Safely load, transport, and unload recyclable materials between various locations.
    • Ensure that materials are secured properly to prevent damage during transit.
  3. Navigation:
    • Utilize navigation tools and devices to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
  4. Customer Service:
    • Interact in a professional and courteous manner during material pickups and deliveries.
    • Provide excellent customer service and address any concerns or issues promptly.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of deliveries, mileage, and hours of service.
    • Submit required paperwork, such as delivery receipts and logbooks, in a timely manner.
  6. Vehicle Maintenance:
    • Perform routine maintenance checks on vehicles and report any mechanical issues promptly.
    • Coordinate with the maintenance team for repairs and preventive maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with the appropriate endorsements.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a CDL driver, preferably in the recycling or waste management industry.
  • Clean driving record with no major violations.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to regulations.
  • Ability to operate heavy-duty commercial vehicles and equipment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Familiarity with route planning and navigation tools.
