Job Duties:



- Drives both gas and diesel vehicles ranging from ½ ton vans to semi-tractor trailer rigs weighing 80,000 lbs.
- Utilizes material handling equipment to include hand trucks, electric pallet jacks, and gas-operated forklifts loading and/or unloading trucks
- Accounts for all goods and prevents damage or theft of items while in transit
- Ensures and adheres to all safety regulations, laws, and operations
- Oversees the loading, delivery, installation, and warehouse activities of ACI products and the workforce
- Prepares all necessary documents per Department of Transportation (DOT) and Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry (ADCRR) guidelines
- Interfaces with customers and vendors during pickup, delivery, and installation
- Prepares written reports as required
- Supervises and trains assigned workforce and closely monitors work crew activities, and enforces security practices and daily sanitation in the area of responsibility in accordance with ADCRR policies, procedures, and best practices
- Consults with Regional Operations Manager, Transportation Supervisor, and other staff regarding quality control issues
- Attends mandatory training and staff meetings
- Drives on State business
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

Knowledge of:
- Supervision and management techniques
- Warehouse and transportation operations to include shipping, receiving, inventory control, product delivery, storage, manufacturing, and installation
- Fire and safety standards and regulations
- Security requirements and practices
- Division and Department policies and procedures, Arizona Department of Transportation rules and regulations, and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations

- Adhere to all Department rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Work in a correctional environment
- Work extended and irregular hours with an inmate work crew










Selective Preference(s):



- A valid Arizona class “A” or “B” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- Minimum of three (3) years on-the-job experience driving a semi-tractor trailer and/or box truck
- Working in a warehouse or transportation operation with duties that include supervision, shipping, receiving, inventory control, product delivery, storage, manufacturing, and installation










Pre-Employment Requirements:



Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued Class “A” or “B” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

Requires possession of a Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner’s Certificate.

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation, drug test, and possibly a medical/physical examination.

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.

Retirement:



Positions in this classification participate in the Corrections Officer Retirement Plan (CORP).

Current ADCRR Employees: Consult with your respective Human Resources Liaison if you are in a different retirement plan than the one indicated above.

As a condition of participation in the CORP, you will be required to undergo a medical evaluation.
